Xylotheque #2 is a work rooted in memory and material connection. It began with fragments of Murano glass I collected, reminders of my Venetian home while living in London. Using the rayograph, a camera-less photographic process, I placed the glass directly onto light-sensitive paper. The resulting forms appear at once alien and organic, recalling the anatomy of flowers. I came to see them as specimens of curiosity, echoing those once preserved in cabinets, (Xylotheque), referring to wooden cases used historically for botanical collections. The works were made in a controlled, camera obscura–like space, where intention met chance to produce unique, unrepeatable prints. Each is presented in a tulipwood frame with museum-quality, anti-reflective, UV-protective glass, recalling archival displays. Xylotheque series, transforms fragments of personal significance into objects of curiosity, blurring the boundaries between memory and science, the familiar and the alien.
