Svenja Michelle Behle is a Visual Artist working in Print, Painting and Installation. In her practice she fuses traditional print techniques with ink painting and light installation. Her practice is situated between her interest in the interspace between internal and external experience and the relationship of internal imagery, myth and emotion. 

Working mainly in Screen Print she uses hand painted ink stencils to translate the fluent and emotionally charged language of internal worlds into prints, painting and installation works. This process allows her to recreate the fantastical narratives, landscapes and items while mirroring how this subconscious internal imagery morphs and shifts over time and through distortion of imagination, experience and emotion. By incorporating iridescent inks she creates ethereal landscapes that morph with movement, light and the position of the viewer.

In her current research she explores multiple methods to record internal imagery through making, by drawing, writing and painting, with additional interest in more scientific approaches to recording this elusive imagery, such as neurological decoding and open access pages like the World Dream Bank. She is looking at subconscious and dream imagery as a means of emotional processing and the influence of affect and time on it. Exploring this imagery in both its psycho-mythological context and with a fascination of the visual language of our mind. This research includes a fascination with alternative mythological universes, like William Blake's Zoas conceived from this internal imagery. 

Svenja Michelle Behle (*1996, Berlin) is a Visual Artist from Berlin, based in Dublin. She specialises in Print, Painting and Installation, creating fantastical landscapes that explore the vast internal image library of our mind.

She pursued formal training at the National College of Art & Design and obtained her BA in Fine Art Print in 2023. For her degree show No Remedy for Memory she was awarded three Graduate Awards by DamnFinePrint Studio, Black Church Print Studio and Richmond Road Studios, Dublin. Throughout her degree, she completed a 3 month internship + 2 month studio access at the Bethanien Creative Center in Berlin in lithography and screen print. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in Berlin, Dublin and Ireland-wide, including at the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray and purchased into the Office of Public Works Collection, Ireland. She opened her debut Solo Show The Lingering Glow of Folding Fans at Richmond Road Studios in September 2024 as part of her 6 month residency award and is currently on the assisted access and teaching panel at Black Church Print Studios. Currently she works from her studio at Flux Studios in Dublin.
