‘The working title of this painting was WTF-35/XS. It reflects on how the world leaders facilitate the passage of all the tiny spare parts – and how no one dares to mention history.’ by RAAU -

‘“What a pity about the stains,” the doctor said. On the other hand, a friend of mine liked it precisely because of the splatter. “Life is not only the blossom. People starve other people to death,” he insisted.’ by RAAU -

In small things lies beauty, says the proverb. But it is two-sided, because within detail also hides banality and pettiness. And how the rawest horrors can begin in the microscopic — how wars are sparked by trivialities, by a miscommunication, or worse: not even by “the small,” but by what remains unsaid, the unspoken, by silence.
In my paintings — as in my poetry — I try, through the medium (language or oil, pen or brush), to reveal that duality, a parallel reality. The paintings and poems are wormholes to another dimension through which I search for the underlying motives we invoke in this more familiar world.
Losing the line between abstract and reality — but just barely. That’s the task: the shaky balancing act that stretches your mind. You concentrate to avoid falling. Sometimes you glimpse something you recognize — and then you must catch it. That is the place these paintings point to. The title of each work is a train of thought; the details, if you like.
