Artist Statement

Patricia Clendening Buzzerio

(b. 1965, Minnesota, USA)

As a young girl growing up in Minnesota, my family spent all of our free time-Up North-in the woods along the St. Croix River. It was here in the wild woods where my respect for and appreciation of nature began.

My work as an oil painter is heavily influenced by my formative years spent exploring nature, and became a re-occurring theme in my life. It exists in my playful landscapes, and my other passion, teaching sustainability and enrichment to children. 

As a military spouse (husband was active duty for 28 years) we have lived all over the US and spent 2 decades in Europe. As we moved over the years, my subject matter changed with the new environs, however;

nature is where I am most at peace. Through my joyful landscapes I strive to convey and share this ethos with my audience.

Bio

Patricia Clendening Buzzerio (b.1965) is an American oil painter based in the Netherlands. She is a third-generation self-taught artist and discovered her love of oil painting through fellow artists while living in Provence, France. She has since worked as a professional oil painter for over three decades.

Her work channels its strength through  compositions of vibrant color combinations. She builds layers of gesso, oil paints and oil bars to add depth to her abstracted landscapes. Minimalist in style yet rich in texture, her colorful palettes evoke a sense of wonder in her playful terrains. Nature, environmentalism and sustainability are important themes for her work. Her aim is to bring the sublime beauty of nature; indoors.

Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts (East Asian History) from the University of Minnesota and a Masters Degree (Education) from Chapman University. She has spent her career teaching enrichment and sustainability to children, while pursuing her passion for art.

Patricia accepts commissions and works with clients (internationally) to create personal pieces of art.
